Citrus is the official scent of summer for me. My body craves it. There is something light, fresh and zesty about scent. Citrus is known to be a natural mood lifter. Of course I was excited to see that A Renaissance Health Center for Natural Medicine located in Gresham offers a luxurious orange vanilla foot soak as an add-on service to their natural pedicure.
Rida is a holistic aethestician and natural nail tech. She is very knowledgeable about the mind, body and spirit connection. I took my place among the Venetian-inspired foot treatment thrones, a five-station pedicure room is decorated with richly colored silky curtains. Ladies, can you say pedicure party?
The pedicure begins with soaking your feet in warm water with rocks at the bottom. The scent of citrus and vanilla reminded me of an Orange Creamsicle. Yummy.
A Renaissance Health Center offers pedicure services in addition to a foot soak and massage. Other places offer foot soak and massage, but if you are a girl about town (like myself) you end up paying twice to get your toes de cutilcled and polished.
Every step and detail of the pedicure service takes into consideration your overall wellness in your body and spirit. A light touch stimulates blood flow. The tools that are used don't cause damage to the sensitive cuticle area. All of the products used in the natural pedicure are all natural including the low-acetone polish remover, scrubs, and lotions.
Instead of cutting the cuticles (which can cause cuts and therefore infections) Rida used a cuticle treatment gel formulated with glycerin, aloe and almond oil to soften cuticles so they can be pushed back easily and safely. A Renaissance Health Center is one of the most sanitary spas around, the tools are sterilized using hospital-grade procedures.
When it was time for my foot massage Rida explained to me the basics of reflexology. I just broke up with my boyfriend so she worked on the specific points on my heels and ankles which correspond to the reproductive organ. She described how the manual application of pressure to these points can stimulate a response in the reproductive organs.
I had the best pedicure I've ever had! It's been 3 weeks and my polish hasn't chipped and my cuticles still look hydrated and are soft. I normally get a pedicure 2-3 times per month. My budget can't handle the $75 per visit, however I will add this service monthly to my beauty and health regimen. The cheaper pedicures you can get at any corner nail salon don't use natural products which in the long run can harmful to your health.
I am going to try the Chocolate Pedicure next!
